Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

ECRC is proud to offer Geographic Information Systems (GIS) services to a variety of groups. Perhaps you need a map that details all of the traffic accidents along a particular corridor. Regardless of your mapping requirements, ECRC has the tools it takes to create exactly what you need. GIS is a system of hardware, software, databases, and maps that help provide the best geographical information possible, most frequently for decision-making purposes. We provide technical assistance to local governments by providing zoning and future land use GIS projects, and our GIS team collects demographics and develops maps for our planning team.

County and municipal agencies can contract with ECRC for GIS services without going through an RFP process.

Let our Geographic Information Systems Coordinator create maps that meet all of your needs:

  • Topographic maps
  • Political maps
  • Transportation maps
  • Demographic maps
  • Land use maps
  • Interactive mapping applications

Additionally, ECRC’s GIS staff support a wide variety of projects undertaken by the Council.

Planning

The ECRC’s GIS provides planning staff with the ability to apply geographic knowledge more efficiently in supporting location decisions involving physical and human factors. GIS tools allow for a spatial approach to the planning process involving:

  • Transportation networks
  • Traffic analysis zones
  • Existing/future land use and terrain
  • Transit needs analysis
  • Transit quality of service
  • Environmental and social impacts

Our GIS staff provides data and support for three Transportation Planning Organizations. Specifically, our GIS information is used in:

  • Long Range Transportation Plans
  • Transportation Improvement Plans
  • Congestion Management Systems
  • Public Transportation
  • Bicycle/Pedestrian Projects
  • Public Involvement
